The 3D Seismic Sink isolation platforms are the newest additions to the Townshend Audio range of air suspended audio and video component supports. The concept derives from the award winning Seismic Sink and the Seismic Sink Stand. These trail-blazing products have conclusively shown the Hi-Fi and video world how vitally important it is to thoroughly isolate all source components from ground and floor borne vibrations.

Record players, CD and DVD players, D-A converters, preamplifiers, power amplifiers, solid state or tube. All are affected! Vibration causes the sound to become closed in, grainy, indistinct, edgy, hard, sibilant, blurred and uninvolving. The sound stage is dramatically reduced and subtle reverberant detail is masked. In the case of video systems, the picture loses focus, colour purity degrades and grain increases.

The 3D seismic sink is an air-bladder suspended, constrained layer damped isolation platform that is placed under your equipment. Vibrations present in the supporting surface are prevented from reaching the equipment due to the filtering action of the air spring, just as the pneumatic tyre smooths out the ride of a car. A unique feature of the 3D seismic sink is that it isolates in three dimensions:- left-right, forwards-backwards and up-down. Further, freedom to rotate around the vertical axis, called “yaw”, is minimal. This is a vital feature when supporting turntables, CD, DVD and Laser Disc players.

How well does it work? . . . . The increase in clarity is best described as fractal! i.e. hidden layers of fine detail are revealed that were previously masked by the effects of noise. Whether it is CD, LP or Laser Disc, whether it is tubes or solid state, digital or analogue, low level or high level processing stages, the results are always the same. Clarity, definition, silkiness, relaxing, large, open, free, fast, louder, natural. . . These are the words that spring immediately to mind. The effect is not subtle. So convincing is the effect that we, at Townshend Audio, have coined the phrase "the one note dem" to sum up the phenomenon, as it only takes an instant to hear the difference.

2-5 Seismic Sink Stand

Ground born vibration is the enemy of high fidelity reproduction! Vibration is generated by traffic, machinery, water, gas and sewerage pumps, compressors, earth works, discos, trains . . . and of course, your audio system. These vibrations (5 to 550Hz) which may have traveled as far as 10km, cause the reproduced sound to be “closed in”, hard, grainy, flat and edgy, with the effect being far more marked with the latest generation of ultra high resolution digital sources and amplifiers. The only practical way to isolate these vibrations is with the Townshend Audio Seismic Sink range of air-bladder isolation equipment supports. When the whole audio system, including the loudspeakers, is isolated from these vibrations by suspending on air isolation platforms, the sound is simply transformed. The music becomes detailed, integrated, smooth, fast, relaxed and enjoyable.

The New Seismic Sink Stand, replaces the AV and Classic Seismic Sink Stand. It incorporates two interconnected air pillow load cells, one at the top and one at the bottom, arranged to make the whole unit incredibly stable whilst still maintaining vibration isolation from 2Hz up. The Stand requires no adjustment or setting up. It is unaffected by out of balance loads such as off-to–the-side transformers, the pull of heavy cabling or the position of the equipment on the shelf. Further, the New Seismic Sink Stand takes twice the load of its predecessors. Re-inflation, once or twice a year, is by hand pump or, to special order, by fully automatic electric air pump.

Every New Seismic Sink Stand is custom made with a choice of shelves from two to seven, with spacing from 5cm to 50cm and the shelf widths for equipment from 30cm wide to 90cm wide.

Sound Anchor 19" Racks

Hand crafted in the USA.. They are made of large section rectangular and square steel tubing. Their all welded one piece construction makes them extra rigid and stable. They can be fitted with spikes, leveling feet or heavy duty casters. The rack can be filled with shot or sand on site. Filling of the rack mass loads the system and lessens vibration transfer into the structure.

The open architecture allows your components run cooler and makes it easier to get at the cables. Removable starboard top latforms and ABS side panels are available.
